I am so excited to see Connie Glynn's (aka Noodlerella) #haulternative video for Fashion Revolution Day tomorrow. Glynn is spearheading a movement to subvert and influence the culture of YouTube 'haul' videos which usually involve showing off endless shopping sprees to Primark, H&M, Forever 21 and New Look. They are encouraging an entire generation of teens and twenty-somethings to consume mindlessly. When clothes are so cheap, you can afford to buy one in every colour. But it's a product of the fast fashion madness which is exploiting the garment workers and gratuitously eating the planet's resources. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIr5AEnKYO4
Like Connie, I love fashion. And I understand the thrill of a bit of retail therapy. But there are alternatives - that will make your style so much cooler and well, noodly! So think before you shop. And ask yourself - and tag the brand on your social media -#whomademyclothes. And look out for Connie's video tomorrow on her own channel as well as Fashion Revolution's YouTube channel and on Telegraph Fashion - alongside others by Bip Ling, GreenMyCloset, Alice Wilby, Marzia Cutiepie. ✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️
